I'm Back: In A Lighter Way

BEFORE

AFTER

Call it writer’s block that one never recovered from.  Or an obsession with blogging being replaced with and obsession with friends and exercise.  Or maybe we will just blame it on the new medication.  Whatever I choose to attribute the last few months of silence to doesn't really matter because I think I am back.

I am back in a different way and for those of you who followed my blog before, you will notice the difference. There are many changes in my life; from where I live, to what I do with my spare time, to where I worship, to the upcoming wedding of my daughter.  But I am still me and I am happy to be back.

Over the next few weeks I will seek to describe some of the changes but will begin with the physical.  After twelve years of preventative medications for migraines, my neurologist finally stumbled on something that worked. Getting rid of my (mostly exercised induced) migraines has allowed me to exercise again.

Seven years ago I gave up marathons and shortly after, I had to give up all exercise. I proceeded over the next years to gain about 40 lbs.  As of June when I hit the gym again I have now lost 40 lbs. and feel as good physically as I ever have.  I will tell you soon about my Spartan race I participated in last week which just wet my appetite to begin racing again: all in a new way!

It is amazing to me how good I feel just not having the almost daily headaches. For those of you also suffering from migraines, I encourage you to stick with your neurologists. I had pretty much given up hope and am so happy that I continued to try new medications, despite the side effects which were often not so pleasant.

God is good and I am so thankful to Him!

I am also happy to be back in Bloggy Land!!!

  1. Welcome back! You look great. I can't get over how you could drop 40 pounds just like that (I know some hard work was involved). No matter what I do I cannot lose weight. I am happy when I lose 1 pound, I kid you not, lol. Anyway, you have been through so many changes so it is only understandable you would be silent for awhile. Now you are back in the saddle, we look forward to hearing more from you. Hugs. xx

  2. Your silence was contagious, as I too, have been missing time here in the blogoshpere, but am going to try and make a go of it again. As far as your time off, allow me to say, it has been spent well as you do look splendid. Praise God for your new found relief. I am happy to see that you are making it back because I for one, enjoyed your writing. I learned much about God's grace while reading your blog and have been missing it.

  18. Hello Jen, Congratulations on all your accomplishments, that is certainly life changing. God is still on the throne and He loves us with ALL His heart and wants the best for us. I can't even walk without Him holding my hand! I love Him and give Him ALL the glory for every breath He graciously gives me.
Jen, I just discovered your blog two days ago, I was looking for a certain family name filet crochet pattern and I saw it on your blog, the CORNISH one, My mother had that pattern, but it was a copy of a copy, it is not legible enough for me, a beginner, to read and figure out. Although I'm just getting started in crocheting, the family name piece is my ultimate goal to accomplish. Do you know where I can get this pattern from? You help would be so greatly appreciated!
I do love your blog, I will be sharing it with my friends to, you have so much to enjoy, so much information......and ideas.
God Bless, and Praise God from Whom All Blessings Flow! :)

  20. Welcome back and congratulations! I found an old comment of yours in my spam folder just now. ACK! It's always tough to find that balance between making it easy for commenting and keeping out the ne'er do wells. Anyway, glad I found your blog and looks like a good time to have found you!

  23. Welcome back! I also get migraines, but figured out they were mainly from a food allergy. I'm glad you're getting some relief and that you can exercise again :)

  24. I happened to see your name when you commented on another blog. Of course, I had to click the link as I've not seen much of you in our blog land lately. I thought maybe I just missed your posts for some reason. But good for you! Congrats on the weight loss. I've been working on losing the extra 15 or so I've gained over the last few years. It seems harder to lose as I get older. :(

    Blessings and love,
    Debbie
